The Indiana University – Health Economics Consortium (HEC) brings together faculty and trainees to advance research on economic evaluations in health and healthcare. Our goal is to produce policy-relevant research that leverages health economics to improve population health and well-being. The Consortium’s faculty publish extensively and disseminate their research in accessible ways. We are dedicated to the development of health economics through innovative research methods and comprehensive training. Our team conducts both cutting-edge methodological and applied research. Additionally, we offer expert consulting services to IU faculty and industry partners seeking to enhance their research or funding proposals with robust health economics and economic evaluation components.
Who We Are
Research Strengths
Our investigators are dedicated to understanding the factors that shape health and well-being, with a focus on ensuring equitable access to and appropriate provision of care. Delivering effective healthcare requires addressing complex decisions, such as selecting the right treatments, organizing and funding health and social care systems, designing workforce incentives, and defining the roles of patients and the public within these systems. The Consortium's research aims to develop analytical frameworks and generate evidence to guide these critical decisions, ultimately advancing healthcare policy and practice.
